Mortgage brokers

“I’ve heard that if you use a mortgage broker they charge you more and just tend to cause problems. Do you advise getting a home loan from a mortgage broker or a bank?”

***ANSWER:
The upside of mortgage brokers is they can shop many places to find you the best loan. Here are the three downsides of a mortgage broker:

1. In some cases you may pay more due to added fees

2. They’re going somewhere else for your money and don’t control the process and may not know all the rules, causing delays, problems, and a possible loan denial.

3. While there are excellent mortgage brokers (I know the best one in town), there are also horrible and unprofessional ones. Way too many times I’ve represented a homeseller and the buyer’s mortgage broker has fouled things up and even lied to us.

I prefer using a “direct lender,” usually a bank. They tend to do things faster and more professionally.

Just call me at (858)457-KENT or click here and I’ll put you in touch with my trusted lender. They’re so good they can actually do a loan in two weeks or less…
